With lockdown inspiring people to make the most of mealtimes at home, it’s no wonder tablescaping is hot news right now. As a quarter-finalist on Great British Bake Off and one half of supper club The Sister Table, Benjamina Ebuehi knows how to set a scene. So if you want to elevate your own eating experience or prep for future soirées, read on for some easy styling ideas.
1. Add colour to your dining table with seasonal fruits and herbs. Here, we’ve used pomegranates, sable grapes and sprigs of rosemary – plus pops of cranberry red – to create a fresh, festive centrepiece that’s not too ‘in your face’.
3. We’re no florists, but for a pared-back look try a few simple stems placed in vases. Dried flowers are wonderful as they last ages, and can be used again and again.
4. Gold cutlery is so luxe and makes a great festive alternative to your usual set. Complement with other metallic accessories, like baubles, to bring some sparkle to the table.
5. We like to serve sharing dishes for people to pass around and help themselves. Bring pans straight to the table and pop them on a trivet for minimal fuss. This takes away the pressure of trying to plate up individually. Brunch shouldn’t be stressful for the host, after all!
